Mary Barcsynski, LPC-IT

I offer a compassionate and integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and the mind-body connection. My practice is rooted in helping clients navigate and overcome challenges including but not limited to ADHD, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and complex family and relationship dynamics. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process where clients feel safe, heard, and supported as they explore their emotions, values, and personal experiences.
A key part of my approach is empowering clients to find their voice and reclaim their sense of self. Many clients struggle with self-advocacy, and people-pleasing that shape how they see themselves and their roles in the world. I help clients explore these roles and expectations. Through this process, clients gain greater clarity and confidence in their decisions, relationships, and life goals.
I work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including neurodivergent clients, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and those with difficult or painful histories. Whether exploring thought patterns, trying mindfulness techniques, or incorporating existential perspectives, I adapt my methods to best serve each person’s needs.
I also integrate yoga philosophy, breathwork, and mindfulness to help clients build a deeper connection with themselves. I encourage small, actionable steps—whether it’s checking in with the body through coping skills or exploring what truly brings a sense of fulfillment and greater understanding of self. My goal is to support clients in discovering their inner strength, fostering self-compassion, and creating a life that aligns with their values and well-being.
When I am not in session with clients, I can be found hanging out at home with my family, three rescue dogs and bearded dragon. I also enjoy practicing yoga and aerial arts. The youngest dog and I may be found haunting local trails and state parks. In summer, I like to attend many of the festivals and fairs in southeastern Wisconsin.
